A spokesman for the Education Bureau (EDB) today (December 1) reminded the public to be aware of a fake Telegram channel called "Hong Kong Education Bureau", set up in the name of the EDB, so as to avoid mistakenly receiving false and misleading information.

     The spokesman stressed that the EDB had nothing to do with the channel and had not set up any channel on Telegram.

     Since the account names and profile images of fake channels may mislead people into thinking that they are the Government's official channels, it may not be easy for the public to differentiate. The Government therefore does not recommend the public to use the search function of Telegram to look for official channels.

     The pubic may obtain the EDB's latest information from the bureau's website (www.edb.gov.hk).
