â€‹Hong Kong Customs gives its full support to the policies and initiatives in "The Chief Executive's 2020 Policy Address" delivered by the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, today (November 25).

Describing the Policy Address as exhilarating, the Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Mr Hermes Tang, said social stability has been gradually restored following the promulgation and implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The newly announced Policy Address has formulated the directions and strategies of future work while the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government has  focused on addressing the various economic, livelihood and anti-epidemic issues in the city.

"Under the strong and powerful support of the Central People's Government, the Policy Address puts forward a series of rousing initiatives that serve as strong cohesive forces for the city to restore public confidence and return to the right track. In particular, there are measures to step up Hong Kong's active participation in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan. Hong Kong can seize its development opportunity, make use of its unique edge to contribute what our country needs, and merge well in the country's development plan," he said.

Mr Tang stressed that Hong Kong Customs would do its utmost to offer unwavering support to the HKSAR Government's implementation of the Policy Address, including the implementation of co-location arrangements at the Huanggang Port that will bring convenience to members of the public. He pledged that the department would be committed and dedicated in a joint effort with other disciplinary forces to doing its part to safeguard national security as well as the long-term stability and safety of Hong Kong to ensure the continued success of the "One Country, Two Systems" principle.
