LCSD steps up patrols at public beaches to ensure users comply with anti-epidemic requirements (with photos)
***************************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) reopened all gazetted beaches under its management on November 3. The department has also stepped up patrols to call on users to comply with regulations on the limit of the number of people in group gatherings and the mask-wearing requirement.

The LCSD appeals to beach users to comply with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation (Cap 599G). The number of people in group gatherings should not be more than that as stipulated by the law. Members of the public should wear masks at all times when being present in any public place in accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Wearing of Mask) Regulation (Cap 599I).

LCSD staff in collaboration with the Police yesterday and today (November 7 and 8), during patrols of public beaches, gave out verbal advice more than 800 times. The spokesman appealed to members of the public to exercise self-discipline in order to reduce the chances of spreading the virus in the community. The LCSD has stepped up cleaning work at the reopened beach facilities. Barbecue sites within gazetted beaches will continue to be closed. The LCSD also calls on members of the public to observe water safety. People should swim at the beaches only when lifeguard services are available. Please do not enter the water when the red flag is hoisted.
