SWD launches new round of Anti-virus Coating Spray Subsidy for residential care homes for the elderly, residential care homes for persons with disabilities and day care units of elderly and rehabilitation services
******************************************************************************************
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) today (November 2) launched a new round of the Anti-virus Coating Spray Subsidy to support some 1 100 residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs) and residential care homes for persons with disabilities (RCHDs) with anti-virus coating spray on their premises for further strengthening infection control. The subsidy is also extended to cover around 300 existing day care (DC) units of elderly and rehabilitation services.

All subvented, contract, self-financing and private RCHEs and RCHDs with a valid licence as at October 30, 2020, as well as all existing subvented and subsidised DC units, are eligible to apply for the subsidy. The ceiling of the subsidy amount for each home or DC unit is set according to the floor area of the home or unit.

The SWD issued letters today to invite eligible RCHEs, RCHDs and DC units to apply for the subsidy. Following a streamlined confirmation procedure, the participating homes or units may procure the anti-virus coating spray service on their own for one-off or multiple applications of coating to provide disinfection protection for an aggregate of no less than 180 days. The coating spray process for DC units must start on or before December 31, 2020, while that for RCHEs and RCHDs must start on or before January 31, 2021.
