Fatal traffic accident in Castle Peak

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Castle Peak this morning (October 9) in which a 56-year-old woman died.

     At 9.58am, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 31-year-old man was travelling along Castle Peak Road – Castle Peak Bay towards Tai Lam. When approaching near Tsing Sin Playground, it reportedly knocked down the 56-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious abdomen injury, the woman was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 10.36am.

     The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
