Public may collect CuMask+™ at over 300 locations starting October 5
***************************************************************

The Innovation and Technology Bureau announced today (October 2) that citizens who have not obtained the CuMask+™ may collect them at post offices across the territory from October 5 to 31. Residents of public rental housing estates under the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) and rental estates under the Hong Kong Housing Society (HS) may also collect the CuMask+™ from their respective estate management offices.

Procedures for collecting CuMask+™

Citizens should present to the staff at post offices or estate management offices the original of their own Hong Kong identity card (HKID) (copies will not be accepted). The staff will input the citizen's HKID number into a computer or a handheld device immediately and provide two adult-sized CuMask+™ if the citizen has not obtained a mask, or one adult-sized CuMask+™ if the citizen has already obtained a mask. The computers and handheld devices used by post offices or estate management offices will not store any personal data of the citizens.

Each authorisee can collect the mask(s) on behalf of a maximum of two authorisers on each occasion. Detailed arrangements are as follows:

(1) Collection of masks at post offices on behalf of others

The authorisee should present to the staff at post offices a copy (photocopy or electronic copy) of the authoriser's HKID and the original or a copy (photocopy or electronic copy) of the authorisation letter signed by the authoriser. The authorisation letter should include the name and HKID number of the authoriser and the name and HKID number of the authorisee, and specify that the authorisation is for collection of the adult-sized CuMask+™. A template of the authorisation letter has been uploaded onto the CuMask+™ website (qmask.gov.hk) for reference.  The authorisee should also present to the staff the original of his/her HKID to prove his/her identity.

(2) Collection of masks at estate management offices on behalf of tenants of public rental housing estates of the HA and rental estates of the HS

The authorisee should present to the staff at estate management offices the original of the tenancy agreement of the unit in which the authoriser resides and a copy (photocopy or electronic copy) of the authoriser's HKID. The name of the authoriser must appear on the tenancy agreement. There is no need to present a separate authorisation letter, but the authorisee should present to the staff the original of his/her HKID to prove his/her identity.

The staff at post offices or estate management offices will input the HKID number of the authoriser into a computer or a handheld device immediately to verify the eligibility of the authoriser. The staff will also input the name and HKID number of the authorisee into the computer or the handheld device. The information will be immediately transmitted to the central system, solely for record-keeping purposes in relation to mask distribution. The computers and handheld devices used by post offices or estate management offices will not store any personal data of the citizens.
