Girl arrested for infanticide in Tin Shui Wai

About 4.50 am that day, Police received a report that a newborn baby was found inside a recycle bag at a bus station on Tin Fuk Road. Police sped to the scene and the baby was certified dead at the scene. Initial examination revealed that the baby, with an umbilical cord attached, was a newborn girl.
Upon investigation, Police arrested a 17-year-old girl in Yuen Long yesterday for infanticide. She is being detained for further enquiries. Initial investigation revealed that she had suspectedly abandoned the baby girl after giving birth to her inside a unit in Yuen Long on September 22.
Investigation by the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long District is underway.
