Franchised bus services to generally return to normal from next Tuesday
***************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) said today (September 11) that, to align with the Government's announcement that normal public services will fully resume from September 15 and that social distancing measures will continue to be relaxed in a gradual and orderly manner, all franchised bus companies will resume their daytime services as scheduled from September 15 to cater for the commuting needs of passengers.

The TD has requested the franchised bus companies to closely monitor changes in passenger demand and consider adjusting services whenever necessary. As for individual bus routes with patronage on the low side, their frequencies after 10pm will continue to be temporarily extended by no more than 10 minutes. However, the extended frequencies should not exceed 30 minutes. Moreover, individual bus routes with extremely low patronage (two Kowloon Motor Bus Company (1933) Limited routes, two New World First Bus Services Limited routes and one Long Win Bus Company Limited route) have been approved for temporary service suspension.

In addition, the frequencies of individual bus routes mainly serving tourists or heading to land boundary control points and the airport have already been adjusted to limited service or have suspended service due to the anti-pandemic measures for boundary control implemented earlier.

The TD will maintain close liaison with franchised bus companies, and will closely monitor the operation of all bus routes to follow up on the bus services to meet passenger needs.
