The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital (AHNH) today (September 8) announced that a 90-year-old male patient confirmed with COVID-19 infection (case number: 2404) passed away this morning.
 
     The patient with chronic disease was an old-age home resident. He was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital on July 23 when he tested positive for COVID-19. The patient was transferred to AHNH on July 30. His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 8.57am today.
 
     The hospital is saddened by the passing away of the patient and will offer necessary assistance to his family members.
 
     Including the above case, 98 COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
