Second tranche of Wage subsidy to green minibus and local ferry operators in respect of hiring each eligible employee aged 65 or above under Anti-epidemic Fund open for applications
******************************************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) said that the second tranche of the Wage subsidy to green minibus (GMB) and local ferry operators in respect of hiring each eligible employee aged 65 or above (Wage Subsidy Scheme) under the second round of the Anti-epidemic Fund is open for application from today (September 7).

For the purpose of retaining employment, the Government will provide the second tranche of wage subsidies to GMB and local ferry operators who hired eligible employees aged 65 or above and have not applied for the second tranche of the wage subsidy of the Employment Support Scheme.

According to the Wage Subsidy Scheme, the Government will provide a monthly subsidy of $6,000 to GMB and local ferry operators in respect of hiring each eligible employee for a period of six months (from June to November this year), for the purpose of supporting the operators for paying wages, with the subsidy to be disbursed in two tranches. The application for the first tranche of the subsidy (for June to August this year) was closed on July 7, and the subsidy has been or is being disbursed to the applicants.

The TD has started issuing letters and application forms to the GMB and local ferry operators today. Operators can submit their applications for the second tranche of the subsidy under the Wage Subsidy Scheme from today until October 7. The subsidy will be disbursed by autopay in about two to three weeks upon completion of the verification process by the TD, in order to support the operators for the payment of wages from September to November this year.
