Crowds gathered in Mongkok shopping mall and chanted pro-independence slogans

     At around 4pm today (September 6), a large group of protestors gathered in a shopping mall in Mongkok and chanted slogans, some of which advocated Hong Kong independence, allegedly in breach of the National Security Law. The crowd behaved in a disorderly manner and allegedly breached the Public Order Ordinance and Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation.

     Amid the pandemic, any prohibited group gathering may raise the risks of transmission of diseases. Members of the public are advised to maintain social distancing and stop gathering. The Police warn protestors to stop all unlawful acts and are closely monitoring the situation. Police may enter the mall to enforce the law.
