The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     In response to media enquiries regarding an anonymous letter about a talk hosted by the Judiciary on July 3, the Judiciary replied as follows today (September 2): 

     The talk concerned was organised for magistrates by the Hong Kong Judicial Institute of the Judiciary on July 3 and the topic was "Judicial Impartiality and Public Confidence". 

     The remarks attributed to the speaker by the anonymous letter are untrue. Further, the Chief Justice did not meet with any magistrates after the talk as alleged in the letter and therefore the contents of that part of the letter are also false.
