Police arrest over 300 persons as at 8pm including nine for violating National Security Law
******************************************************************************************
Since noon today (July 1), crowds have been gathering and chanting slogans in the vicinity of Causeway Bay and Wan Chai. They blocked roads, set fires and vandalised public facilities and shops. Although Police have adopted a measured and restrained approach throughout and gave multiple verbal warnings to the crowds, the crowds refused to follow Police instruction and continued to block roads and make damages in the area. Police therefore conducted arrest operation.

As at 8pm, Police arrested over 300 persons, including five men and four women for suspected violation of the National Security Law. The remaining arrestees were arrested for suspected unlawful assembly, disorder in public places, furious driving and possession of offensive weapon.

Police do not tolerate any illegal act and will take resolute enforcement action. Police continue to conduct arrest operation at scene and warn the crowds to stop all illegal acts immediately.
