Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tseung Kwan O today (June 12) in which an 88-year-old man died.

     At about 12.12pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 60-year-old man was travelling eastbound along Po Fung Road. When approaching Yan King Road, the LGV reportedly knocked down the 88-year-old male cyclist who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining head, hands and legs injuries, the 88-year-old man was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital in unconscious state and later certified dead at 3.13pm.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in early July.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.
