Correctional officers stop fighting among remand persons in custody

At 7.52am today, two male remand persons in custody aged 30 and 43 respectively engaged in a fight while proceeding to a dayroom. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.
One of the remand persons in custody sustained injuries to his head and chest and was referred to a public hospital for further treatment. Another remand person in custody sustained injuries to his hand and neck and did not need to be sent to public hospital after examination and treatment provided by the institution Medical Officer.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The two remand persons in custody were respectively remanded for the offence of possession of arm or ammunition without licence and theft.
