Government clarifies reports on fee for persons undergoing quarantine
***************************************************************

In response to comments in media reports that the Government should not charge all people on compulsory quarantine across-the-board, a Government spokesman today (March 16) clarified that no such arrangement is made.

The spokesman said the fee charging arrangement only applies to those staying at the temporary accommodation sites, namely Tso Kung Tam Outdoor Recreation Centre, Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre and Lady MacLehose Holiday Village. People staying therein are Hong Kong residents returning from the Mainland (except Hubei Province). They should stay at home or other dwelling places arranged by themselves for quarantine. The fee charging arrangement does not apply to people staying in quarantine centres who are close contacts of confirmed cases, or those arriving Hong Kong from areas of higher risk (such as Hubei Province) but without any symptom. People from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan and Hubei therefore will not be charged for staying in quarantine centres.
