CS visits Hong Kong International Airport to inspect the latest health declaration measure (with photos)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, today (March 13) visited Hong Kong International Airport to observe the implementation of the health declaration measure that has been extended to all inbound travellers arriving Hong Kong.
 
     Accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, Mr Fred Lam; the Chief Port Health Officer of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, Dr Leung Yiu-hong; and the Executive Director, Airport Operations, of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, Mrs Vivian Cheung, Mr Cheung visited the arrival hall for an update on the implementation of the requirement that all inbound travellers arriving at the airport should complete and submit a health declaration form. He was pleased to note that the arrangement has been operating smoothly since it was put into effect on March 8.
 
     He then received a briefing and demonstration from staff of the Health Informatics and Technology Office of the Department of Health on the operation of the "Electronic Health Declaration Form" system. It was introduced by the Department of Health to offer all inbound travellers arriving at the airport an option to complete and submit health declaration forms via smartphones or other mobile devices and at the same time help reduce paper use.
 
     Mr Cheung also met with front-line staff to gain a better understanding on the management of a symptomatic inbound traveller. He expressed his sincere gratitude to them for their professionalism and dedication to safeguard the well-being of Hong Kong in the fight against the epidemic.
 
     Mr Cheung pointed out that given the outbreak of COVID-19 worldwide, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government already strengthened health quarantine requirement for inbound travellers from other places, and would closely monitor the development and respond swiftly by adjusting the anti-epidemic measures. He stressed that the Government would continue to accord the highest priority to the prevention and control of the epidemic and appealed to the public to join hands with the Government in fighting the epidemic.
