Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwun Tong this morning (January 23) in which a 76-year-old woman died.

     At about 10.41am, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 57-year-old man was travelling eastbound along Kai Tin Road. When approaching the carpark of Kai Tin Shopping Centre, it reportedly knocked down the 76-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the 76-year-old woman was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.12am.

     The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in mid-February.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.
