Hospital Authority announces senior appointment (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson announced the following senior appointment today (January 23):
 
     Dr Lau Sze-ting will be appointed as Hospital Chief Executive of Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital, Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital (HCE of HKBH, OLMH and WTSH) with effect from January 24, 2020, succeeding Dr Chong Yee-hung, who has taken up the post of HCE of Pok Oi Hospital and Tin Shui Wai Hospital on August 23, 2019.
 
     Dr Lau is a specialist in geriatric medicine. He is currently the Deputising HCE of HKBH, OLMH and WTSH. Since December 2018, he has been the Deputy HCE of OLMH, in addition to his role as Chief of Service of Department of Medicine and Geriatrics, a position he has held since March 2018 in the hospital. Dr Lau is an experienced senior clinician with rich management experience. He plays an active role in the redevelopment project of OLMH. He has also contributed to the geriatric service planning and improvements by implementing the End-of-Life Care Programme for inpatients, providing support in community partnership initiatives such as the Dementia Community Support Scheme and the Integrated Discharge Support Programme, as well as leading various quality and safety improvement programmes.
 
     The HA Chairman, Mr Henry Fan, and HA Chief Executive, Dr Tony Ko, congratulate Dr Lau on his new appointment and wish him every success in taking up the new role.
