Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine (with photo)

Customs officers at Lok Ma Chau Control Point on that day intercepted an express parcel, which arrived in Hong Kong from Africa via Shenzhen, declared as containing oil filters. Upon inspection, the batch of suspected cocaine was found concealed inside three metal oil filters.
After follow-up investigation, Customs officers yesterday (November 28) arrested a 35-year-old woman suspected to be in connection with the case in Sha Tin.
Investigation is ongoing.
Customs will maintain close contact with Hongkong Post and the logistics industries to step up action against drug trafficking through postal parcel and express courier channels.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
