CSSA caseload for October 2019

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in October showed a decrease of 331 cases, representing a drop of 0.1 per cent compared with that of September, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (November 20).
      
     The total CSSA caseload at the end of October stood at 220 775 (see attached table), with a total of 311 983 recipients.
      
     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.8 per cent to 3 091 cases. Old age cases fell by 0.4 per cent to 136 996 cases while single parent cases were down by 0.3 per cent to 23 868 cases.
      
     Unemployment cases rose by 1.5 per cent to 12 282 cases. Ill-health cases edged up by 0.6 per cent to 23 650 cases while permanent disability cases increased slightly by 0.3 per cent to 16 805 cases.
