Around 800 people leave the campus of Hong Kong Polytechnic University in a peaceful manner
***************************************************************
As at 11pm last night (November 19), a total of around 800 people have left the campus of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Poly U) in a peaceful manner and cooperated with police investigation. Among all, 300 people are under 18 years old. At around 10 pm, a group of 20 volunteer first-aiders left through the main entrance and at around 11pm, about 10 masked rioters attempted to escape from the main entrance and were intercepted by Police.
Rioters have been occupying the campus of Poly U for over one week, during which Police have repeatedly warned them to leave. Police have always emphasised two fundamental principles: peaceful resolution and flexibility. Police have actively engaged with different sectors for dialogues and solutions. Yesterday qualified first aiders from Red Cross and Medecins Sans Frontieres have also entered the Poly U and rendered first aid to the rioters inside.
Police appeal to all staying in the campus to leave in a peaceful manner and pledge to bring offenders to justice in a fair manner.
