Appointment of Chief Staff Officer, Civil Aid Service (with photo)

     The Government announced today (November 7) that Mr Francis Fong Yiu-tong, Staff Officer, Civil Aid Service, will assume the post of Chief Staff Officer, Civil Aid Service on November 8, 2019.
 
     Commenting on the appointment of Mr Fong, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, said, "Mr Fong possesses leadership qualities and rich professional knowledge. I am confident that he will be able to lead the Civil Aid Service to provide systematic operational planning, professional training and logistics support to volunteer members of the Service."
      
     A brief biographical note on Mr Fong is set out below:
 
     Mr Fong joined the Fire Services Department as an Ambulanceman in November 1986 before being appointed as Training Officer (later retitled as Operations and Training Officer) in the Civil Aid Service in July 1989. He was promoted to Senior Operations and Training Officer in December 2005 and to Principal Operations and Training Officer in February 2016, and was appointed as Staff Officer, Civil Aid Service in July 2018.
