SHA to visit Shanghai

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, will depart for Shanghai in the morning of November 1 (Friday) to attend the opening programmes and ceremonies of Festival Hong Kong 2019 - A Cultural Extravaganza@Shanghai.

     During his stay in Shanghai, Mr Lau will also officiate at two Festival programme events. The first event is the opening ceremony of the "One Tale, Two Cinemas" exhibition and film screening, organised by the Hong Kong Film Archive at the Shanghai Film Museum. He will also officiate at the opening ceremony of "The Oral Legacies: Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong" exhibition, organised by the Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Office, at the Shanghai Mass Art Center.

     The Festival is the first Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government mega cultural exchange event to be held in a major city on the Mainland since the 2010 Shanghai Expo. The Festival is co-ordinated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and will feature 19 cultural and performing arts programmes to showcase multicultural artworks of Hong Kong arts groups and artists. Some programmes will be featured in the Hong Kong Culture Week of the 21st China Shanghai International Arts Festival.

     Mr Lau will return to Hong Kong in the morning of November 3 (Sunday). During his absence, the Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Jack Chan, will be the Acting Secretary for Home Affairs.
