Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected liquid cocaine worth about $23 million (with photo)

     ​Hong Kong Customs seized about 22 kilograms of suspected liquid cocaine with an estimated market value of about $23 million at Hong Kong International Airport on October 23.

     A male passenger and a female passenger arrived in Hong Kong from Lima, Peru via Paris, France on that day. During Customs clearance, ten liquor bottles containing suspected liquid cocaine were found inside their suitcases. They were then arrested.

     The arrested man and woman, aged 39 and 28 respectively, have been jointly charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. They will appear at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (October 26).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
