Transcript of remarks by Secretary for Justice at media session
***************************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Justice, Ms Teresa Cheng, SC, at a media session after the Legislative Council meeting today (October 23):

Reporter: Will the Hong Kong Government give the Police's testament statement that Chan Tong-kai allegedly admitted that he killed the girl to the Taiwan authorities in the form of co-operation?

Secretary for Justice: This will be very much a matter that will have to be operated at the working level between the Police and relevant authorities in Taiwan, insofar as the law permits, and insofar as it is doable. I am sure in Hong Kong we will do everything we can to ensure that justice is being done.

Reporter: Is it a part of judicial co-operation?

Secretary for Justice: We do not at the moment have a legal framework that will allow a formal arrangement for that. But at the working level, there are many things that the Police and the other relevant law enforcement agencies may be able to do. Thank you very much.
