CSSA caseload for September 2019

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in September showed a drop of 980 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent compared with that of August, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (October 23).
      
     The total CSSA caseload at the end of September stood at 221 106 (see attached table), with a total of 311 995 recipients.
      
     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 2.1 per cent to 3 149 cases. Single parent cases dropped by 0.9 per cent to 23 942 cases while old age cases slipped by 0.7 per cent to 137 584 cases.
      
     Unemployment cases edged up by 1.5 per cent to 12 101 cases. Ill-health cases rose by 0.3 per cent to 23 519 cases while permanent disability cases increased slightly by 0.1 per cent to 16 758 cases.
