Update on cluster of Multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter cases in Princess Margaret Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) gave the following update today (October 16) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of inpatients with Multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) in a medicine and geriatrics ward:
 
     A 66-year-old female patient in the ward has been confirmed as having MDRA. She is under medical surveillance and isolation with stable condition.
 
     PMH will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation of the ward. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
