Restriction on public light buses travelling via Sha Tin Section of Route 8 to be relaxed
*****************************************************************************************
     The Transport Department (TD) today (October 14) announced that, with effect from 10am on October 20, the restriction on public light buses (PLBs) travelling via the Sha Tin Section of Route 8 will be relaxed. PLBs can travel via the following road sections of the Sha Tin Section of Route 8 between New Territories East and Kowloon:

(1) the slip road from Ching Cheung Road eastbound to the Tsing Sha Highway northbound;
(2) the slip road from Castle Peak Road - Kwai Chung northbound to the Tsing Sha Highway northbound; and
(3) the section of the Tsing Sha Highway southbound, south of its junction with the slip road to Chik Wan Street.

     PLBs can use the above slip roads connecting with Ching Cheung Road and Castle Peak Road - Kwai Chung to travel via the Tsing Sha Highway northbound and Tai Po Road - Sha Tin northbound to New Territories East, or travel via Tai Po Road - Sha Tin southbound, the Tsing Sha Highway southbound, Lai Po Road southbound, Lin Cheung Road eastbound and Hing Wah Street West northbound to Kowloon.

     A spokesman for the TD said that after the relaxation of the restriction on PLBs travelling via the Sha Tin Section of Route 8, the road will be better utilised, providing one more option for members of the public travelling between Sha Tin and Kowloon.

     Details of the traffic arrangements have been uploaded to the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk).
