FHB announces plan to build Tin Shui Wai Temporary Market (with photos/video)
***************************************************************

The Food and Health Bureau (FHB) announced today (October 10) the establishment of a temporary market at the open space adjacent to Tin Sau Road Park, with the market expected to be completed and to commence operation before the end of next year at the soonest.

A spokesman for the FHB said that the bureau and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) attach great importance to development of public markets and have been striving hard to identify suitable locations for provision of public markets so as to offer more choices to the public in purchasing fresh food. In the 2018 Policy Address, the Chief Executive announced that a new public market would be built at the section of Tin Fuk Road opposite Tin Shui Wai Station of the West Rail Line. Considering that it takes time to build a new market, the FHB has chosen another site in Tin Shui Wai to provide a temporary market so that members of the public can benefit early.

The temporary market will be built at the open space adjacent to Tin Sau Road Park. The Modular Integrated Construction method will be adopted to shorten construction time with a view to meeting the target of completion in about one year. It is tentatively planned to set up about 40 stalls focusing on sale of fresh food such as meat, fish, vegetables and fruits. The market will be wholly covered with air-conditioning at all stalls.

The FHB, the FEHD, the Architectural Services Department and relevant departments are working closely to take forward the project actively and will consult the District Council at an appropriate juncture.
