Updated traffic and public transport situation

     The Transport Department (TD) today (October 9) reminded members of the public to pay attention to the traffic situation and the latest public transport service arrangement this morning before starting their journey.

     As at 5.30am, the latest public transport situation is as follows:

(I) MTR

     Services of MTR lines including Island Line, South Island Line, Disneyland Resort Line, Airport Express Line, Tung Chung Line, West Rail Line and East Rail Line services remain normal.

     Except the Airport Express Line, the train services will end at 8pm.

     However, as individual stations are seriously damaged, a total of 13 stations will be closed including 7 in heavy rail and 6 in Light Rail. The following lines will not serve the concerned stations.

Tsuen Wan Line: Train service is normal, Mong Kok Station is closed;

Kwun Tong Line: Train service is normal, Mong Kok and Kwun Tong stations are closed;

Tseung Kwan O Line: Train service is normal, Tseung Kwan O and Hang Hau stations are closed;

Ma On Shan Line: Train service is normal, Che Kung Temple, Sha Tin Wai and Shek Mun stations are closed.

Light Rail: Light Rail vehicles will not stop at Yau Oi, Tin Wing, Ginza, Tin Wu, Tin Tsz and Tin Shui Wai stops.

(II) Franchised bus

     All franchised bus services remain normal. In view of services of individual MTR lines are yet to resume normal, the TD has coordinated with franchised bus operators and strengthened existing bus services in the affected areas, including the following 14 bus routes to cater for passenger demand and help ease traffic.

1. Ma On Shan (i) to Tsim Sha Tsui / Tsim Sha Tsui East (KMB Routes 281A, 281B and 87D); (ii) to Hong Kong Island (Cross Harbour Route 982X).
2. Tseung Kwan O (i) to Ngau Tau Kok Station (KMB Routes 98A and 296A); (ii) to So Uk (NWFB Route 796C); (iii) to Tsim Sha Tsui (NWFB Route 796P).
3. Mong Kok: KMB Route 234X (Bayview Garden - Tsim Sha Tsui).
4. Kwun Tong: (i) KMB Route 215X (Lam Tin - Tsim Sha Tsui); (ii) to Hong Kong Island (Cross Harbour Routes 601, 601P, 606X and 619).

(III) Ferry and Tramway

     Ferry and tram services remain normal.

     Meanwhile, about 50 sets of traffic lights have been damaged or tampered with recently in various districts. The concerned departments are actively following up on the repair works. As traffic lights have yet to resume normal operation, motorists and pedestrians are advised to be patient and pay attention to road safety when passing through those affected junctions.

     The TD is closely monitoring the traffic conditions and is committed to maintain normal operation of traffic facilities.
