The Transport Department (TD) today (October 8) reminded members of the public to pay attention to the traffic situation and the latest public transport service arrangement this morning before starting their journey.

     As at 5.30am today, the latest public transport situation is as follows:

(I) MTR

     Some MTR stations are still closed due to serious damages. Except the Airport Express Line, the train services will ‪end at 8pm‬.

     Details of the train service arrangement are as follows:

     Island Line, South Island Line, Disneyland Resort Line, Airport Express Line and Tung Chung Line services remain normal.

     The following heavy rail lines service remain normal. However, as individual stations are seriously damaged, these lines would not serve the concerned stations (21 in total including 13 in heavy rail and eight in Light Rail).

Kwun Tong Line: Whampoa, Mong Kok and Kwun Tong stations are temporarily closed.

Tsuen Wan Line: Mong Kok Station is temporarily closed.

Tseung Kwan O Line: Tsueng Kwan O, Hang Hau and Po Lam stations are temporarily closed.

East Rail Line: Tai Po Market Station is temporarily closed.

Ma On Shan Line: Che Kung Temple , Sha Tin Wai, City One, Shek Mun and Ma On Shan stations are temporarily closed.

West Rail Line: Siu Hong Station is temporarily closed.

Light Rail: Routes 705, 614, 615 and 751P are suspended. Routes 706 and 751 will be diverted and are maintained in 15-16 minutes interval. Routes 505, 507, 610, 614P, 615P and 761P are maintained in 15-16 minutes interval. Light Rail Vehicles will not stop at Yau Oi, Tin Wing, Ginza, Tin Wu, Tin Tsz, Locwood, Tin Shui Wai stops and Tai Tong Road Stop Platform 2 (Tuen Mun bound).

(II) Franchised bus

     All franchised bus services remain normal. In view of services of individual MTR lines are yet to resume normal, the TD has coordinated with franchised bus operators and strengthened existing bus services in the affected areas, including the following 14 bus routes to cater for passenger demand and help ease traffic.

1. Ma On Shan (i) to Tsim Sha Tsui / Tsim Sha Tsui East (KMB Routes 281A, 281B and 87D); (ii) to Hong Kong Island (Cross Harbour Route 982X).
2. Tsueng Kwan O (i) to Ngau Tau Kok Station (KMB Routes 98A and 296A); (ii) to So Uk (NWFB Route 796C); (iii) to Tsim Sha Tsui (NWFB Route 796P).
3. Mong Kok: Route 234X (Bayview Garden - Tsim Sha Tsui).
4. Kwun Tong: (i) KMB Route 215X (Lam Tin - Tsim Sha Tsui); (ii) to Hong Kong Island (Cross Harbour Routes 601, 601P, 606X and 619).

(III) Green Minibus

     Kowloon GMB Route 63 plying between Kwun Tong Kwong Tin Estate and Yue Man Square will route via Lei Yue Mun Road Lam Tin MTR Station.

     There may be further service adjustment of the daytime GMB routes to cater for passenger demand if situation warrants.

(IV) Ferry and Tramway

     Ferry and Tramway services remain normal.

     Meanwhile, about 80 sets of traffic lights that have been damaged or tampered with recently are located in Tuen Mun, Tsuen Wan, Yuen Long, Tseung Kwan O, North District, Tai Po, Sha Tin, Tung Chung, Kowloon City, Yau Tsim Mong, Sham Shui Po and Kwun Tong. The concerned departments are actively following up on the repair works.

     As traffic lights have yet to resume normal operation, motorists are advised to drive with utmost care and patience when passing through those affected junctions, pay attention to traffic signs nearby, and exercise extra care in safeguarding the safety of pedestrians crossing the roads.

     Pedestrians are also advised to use crossing aids nearby such as footbridges and pedestrian subways for crossing the roads. They should pay attention to vehicles when crossing junctions with damaged traffic lights.

     The TD is closely monitoring the traffic conditions and is committed to maintain normal operation of traffic facilities.
