Updated traffic and public transport situation

     The Transport Department (TD) today (October 6) reminded members of the public to pay attention to the traffic situation and the latest public transport service arrangement this morning before starting their journey.

     As at 6.30am today, the latest public transport situation is as follows:

(I) MTR

     Some MTR stations are closed due to serious damages. Train services will end at 9pm. 

     Details of the service arrangement are as follows:

     Airport Express Line: from the first departure: services will be provided at Hong Kong, Kowloon, Tsing Yi and Airport stations, Asia World Expo station is omitted; from 1pm to the last departure: services will be provided at Hong Kong and Airport stations only, Kowloon, Tsing Yi and Asia World Expo stations are omitted;

     Tsuen Wan Line: trains are running at 6 minutes intervals, Admiralty, Tsim Sha Tsui, Jordan, Mong Kok, Prince Edward, Sham Shui Po, Cheung Sha Wan, Kwai Fong, Tai Wo Hau and Tsuen Wan stations are closed;

     Kwun Tong Line: trains are running at 6 minutes intervals, Mong Kok, Prince Edward, Lok Fu, Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon Bay, Ngau Tau Kok, Kwun Tong and Tiu Keng Leng stations are closed;

     Island Line: trains are running at 6 minutes intervals, Sai Ying Pun, Sheung Wan, Admiralty, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Tin Hau and Fortress Hill stations are closed; 

     South Island Line: trains are running at 6 minutes intervals, Admiralty Station is closed;

     Tseung Kwan O Line: trains are running at 6 minutes intervals, Tiu Keng Leng, Tseung Kwan O, Hang Hau, Po Lam and LOHAS Park stations are closed;

     Tung Chung Line: trains are running at 6 minutes intervals, Sunny Bay and Tung Chung stations are closed;

     Disneyland Resort Line: service temporarily suspended;

     East Rail Line: trains are running at 6 minutes intervals, Tai Wai, Sha Tin, Tai Po Market, Fanling and Sheung Shui stations are closed;

     West Rail Line: trains are running at 6 minutes intervals, East Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan West, Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun stations are closed; 

     Ma On Shan Line: service temporarily suspended; and

     Light Rail Route 705, 751, 614, 615 suspended, other routes are maintained in 15-20 minutes interval. 
     
(II) Franchised bus

     All franchised bus services remain normal.

(III) Ferry and Tramway

     Ferry and Tramway services remain normal.

     Meanwhile, 86 sets of traffic lights that have been damaged or tampered with are located mainly in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Tsuen Wan, Tseung Kwan O and Yau Tsim Mong Districts.  The concerned departments are actively following up on the repair works.

     As some of the traffic lights have yet to resume normal operation, motorists are advised to drive with utmost care and patience when passing through these junctions, pay extra attention to the traffic signs, particularly the safety of pedestrians crossing the roads.

     Pedestrians are advised to use crossing aids nearby such as footbridges and pedestrian subways for crossing the roads. They should pay attention to vehicles when crossing junctions with damaged traffic lights.

     The TD is closely monitoring the traffic conditions and is committed to maintain normal operation of traffic facilities.
