Hong Kong Customs detects trafficking in dangerous drug case using underpants and diaper (with photo)
******************************************************************************************
Hong Kong Customs yesterday (September 26) detected a trafficking in dangerous drugs case using underwear and a diaper, and seized about 190 grams of different kinds of suspected dangerous drugs with an estimated market value of about $200,000 at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Port. This is the largest dangerous drug case detected by Hong Kong Customs at the HZMB Hong Kong Port since the bridge commenced operation in October 2018.

Through risk assessment, Customs officers intercepted an outgoing 41-year-old man at the HZMB Hong Kong Port for inspection last night and found the batch of suspected dangerous drugs, including ketamine, methamphetamine and cocaine, inside his underpants and a diaper he was wearing.

The man was arrested immediately. An investigation is ongoing.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.

Members of the public may report any suspected drug trafficking activities to Customs' 24-hour hotline 2545 6182 or its dedicated crime-reporting email account (crimereport@customs.gov.hk).
