Twenty-one building plans approved in July

     The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in July, with five on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.
 
     Of the approved plans, nine were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven were for commercial developments, four were for factory and industrial developments, and one was for community services developments.
 
     In the same month, consent was given for works to start on 16 building projects which, when completed, will provide 110 548 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving 554 units, and 683 699 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of superstructure works for eight building projects.
 
     The department also issued 18 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.
 
     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 19 648 sq m involving 526 units, and 37 343 sq m was for non-domestic use.
 
     The declared cost of new buildings completed in July totalled about $2.4 billion.
 
     In addition, 14 demolition consents involving 14 building structures were issued.
 
     The department received 3 807 reports about unauthorised building works (UBWs) in July and issued 1 504 removal orders on UBWs.
