TD appeals to public to pay attention to latest traffic news
************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (September 17) said that, due to the derailment incident, the MTR East Rail Line between Mong Kok East Station and Hung Hom Station will continue to be suspended today. The East Rail Line between Mong Kok East Station and Lo Wu Station maintains at a headway of 3.5 minutes, while that between Tai Po Market Station and Lok Ma Chau Station maintains at a headway of 10 minutes.

It is anticipated that more passengers will be waiting for trains at the interchange stations, especially at Kowloon Tong, Admiralty, North Point and Tai Wai Stations, and that the waiting time will be longer than usual. Passengers are advised to be patient and to follow instructions from MTR staff for queuing.

With a view to catering for the outbound passenger demand and relieving the possible congestion at MTR interchange stations during the evening peak, the TD has coordinated bus operators, starting from 5.30pm, to arrange four special bus routes, comprising route 104 from Central to Mong Kok; route 112 from North Point to Mong Kok; route 982X from Admiralty (East) Bus Terminus to Tai Wai Station and route 81C from East Tsim Sha Tsui Station to Tai Wai Station for passengers to interchange with East Rail Line at Mong Kok East or Tai Wai Station. Passengers can also consider using the shuttle bus service from Diamond Hill Station to Tai Wai Station provided by MTR.

The Transport Department and bus operators will closely monitor the situation and strengthen bus services to the New Territories East to cater for passenger demand.

Members of the public are advised to allow more traveling time for their journeys and pay attention to the latest traffic news.
