SFH to visit Australia
**********************
The Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, will lead a delegation to visit Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, from September 16 to 20 to meet with healthcare professionals and students in Australia.

"The purpose of the visit is to promote the limited registration scheme for non-locally trained doctors and to encourage qualified non-locally trained healthcare professionals, in particular doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, to serve in the public healthcare system of Hong Kong," Professor Chan said.

During her visit in Australia, Professor Chan will meet with the Chief Health Officer of the Department of Health and Human Services of Victoria, Dr Brett Sutton, in Melbourne and also the New South Wales Minister for Health, Mr Brad Hazzard, in Sydney to exchange views on global health matters and other topics of mutual concern.

Professor Chan will join gatherings with Hong Kong people and healthcare professionals living in Melbourne and Sydney, and host reception and information sessions for Hong Kong students studying in major universities in both places.

She will also take the opportunity to visit Monash University's Peninsula campus in Melbourne to meet with students studying occupational therapy and physiotherapy there, as well as meet senior healthcare teaching staff at the University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney.

The delegation will comprise representatives from the Hospital Authority, the Social Welfare Department and non-governmental organisations.

Professor Chan will arrive in Hong Kong on September 20. The Under Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Chui Tak-yi, will be the Acting Secretary for Food and Health during her absence.
