Update on cluster of Carbapenem Resistant Acinetobacter cases in Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesman for the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital (AHNH) made the following update today (September 9) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of Carbapenem Resistant Acinetobacter (CRA) carriers in a mixed medical ward:
 
     In accordance with the prevailing infection control guidelines, the hospital has performed contact tracing and confirmed two more male patients (both aged 90) as CRA carriers without clinical symptoms. One of them has been discharged already. The remaining patient has been transferred to the Tai Po Hospital and is under isolation with stable condition.
 
     The AHNH will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation of the wards. The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
