HKSAR Government thanks relevant personnel for smooth operation of airport and railway
***************************************************************

Radical protesters once again assembled in Mong Kok and Prince Edward areas yesterday night (September 7) and blocked roads, attacked the police station and set fires, posing a threat to the safety of police officers and members of the public. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government strongly condemns the behaviours.

Facilities at MTR stations were vandalised in the past days and there were attempts to interrupt the operation of the airport yesterday. The HKSAR Government expresses gratitude to the police, the Airport Authority Hong Kong, the MTR Corporation, the aviation sector and public officers of relevant departments for standing fast at their posts and doing their best to work together, enabling the largely smooth operation of the railway and the airport, the two major infrastructure projects, with efficient services continued to be provided to millions of travellers and members of the public yesterday. The court has already granted separate injunction orders to restrain people from obstructing the operation of the airport and railway. Vandalistic and obstructive acts would also seriously affect the provision of various public services and people's daily living. No one should advocate or take part in those acts. The HKSAR Government appeals to members of the public to abide by the law and take into account the rights and the needs of travellers and other members of the public when expressing their views.
