STH to visit London to promote maritime collaboration

     The Secretary for Transport and Housing and Chairman of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB), Mr Frank Chan Fan, will depart next Tuesday (September 10) to visit London, the United Kingdom (UK). Together with members of the HKMPB and representatives of the maritime industry, Mr Chan will attend events of the London International Shipping Week (LISW) to promote Hong Kong as an international maritime centre and maritime services hub.

     During the stay in London, Mr Chan and the delegation will take part in a round-table meeting with the UK Shipping Minister, Ms Nusrat Ghani, and representatives of Maritime London to exchange views on the collaboration between Hong Kong and London in promoting the maritime industry. They will also promote the high value-added maritime services of Hong Kong to local maritime-related organisations and personalities.

     In addition, Mr Chan will call on the UK Secretary of State for Transport, Mr Grant Shapps, and the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, Mr Kitack Lim. He will also deliver a keynote speech at a plenary session of the LISW Conference on September 12.

     Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong on September 14. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Dr Raymond So Wai-man, will be the Acting Secretary for Transport and Housing.
