Acclaimed local pianists to perform "Perfect Ten" concert in December

     A quartet of acclaimed Hong Kong pianists will perform in a concert entitled "GENK and Friends - Perfect Ten" in December to help mark the 30th anniversary of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC).
 
     Gabriel Kwok, Eva Lue, Nancy Loo and Tam Ka-kit, aka GENK, will play Johann Sebastian Bach's "Concerto in A minor for 4 Pianos" under the baton of Sharon Choa and the accompaniment by the Chamber Orchestra of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). The quartet will also collaborate with six other veteran local pianists – Enloc Wu, Margaret Lynn, Betty Woo, Eleanor Wong, Poon Chui-fun and Choi Sown-le and perform an array of works including Brahms' "Hungarian Dances", Dvoƙák's "Slavonic Dances", Wilberg's "Fantasy on Themes from Bizet's 'Carmen'" and the world premiere of Julie Kuok's "Merry Collage 3X" for five pianos.
 
     Gabriel Kwok has been Head of Keyboard Studies at the HKAPA since 1989. A Fellow of the United Kingdom's (UK) Royal Academy of Music since 2003, he was awarded a Medal of Honour by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in 2014 for his contribution to piano education.
 
     Eva Lue received her musical education from the Royal College of Music in the UK, earning scholarships and prizes. She has devoted much of her time in pedagogic and adjudicating work in recent years and is currently a teaching staff member of the Department of Keyboard at the HKAPA.
 
     Nancy Loo is one of Hong Kong's most versatile artists, recognised as a pianist, radio programme hostess, actress and writer. As a pianist, she has given solo recitals and performed with orchestras in the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. She currently teaches the piano at the HKAPA and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
 
     Tam Ka-kit is a former piano professor at the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK. Now residing in Canada, he has made various concerto appearances with local orchestras and has played extensively in many parts of the world as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist.
 
     "GENK and Friends - Perfect Ten" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be staged at 8pm on December 27 (Friday) at the Concert Hall of the HKCC.
