******************************************************************************************
The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, today (August 16) officiated at the closing ceremony of the Youth Internship Programme at the Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan.

The Youth Internship Programme at the Wolong National Nature Reserve was funded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and co-organised by the Ocean Park Corporation. It recruited youths from Hong Kong and Guangdong Province to participate in a six-week internship programme, during which the young people were provided with professional training to enhance their understanding of nature conservation and ecotourism development. The programme also provided a platform for strengthening cultural exchanges and co-operation between youths from both places.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr Wong encouraged the students who had completed the internship to contribute to environmental conservation by applying what they had learned in the programme to actively promote the culture of conservation and help propagate the message of nature conservation.

He will return to Hong Kong this afternoon after concluding his visit.
