"#ArtTravellers Exhibition Series IV: Traversing the Horizon" reinterprets meaning of travel (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
The Art Promotion Office today (May 24) launched the exhibition "#ArtTravellers Exhibition Series IV: Traversing the Horizon" at the 1/F lobby of Trade and Industry Tower. Featuring works by local artists Samson Cheung and Frank Tang, the exhibition showcases how they reimage, rethink and reconstruct their experiences and impressions of a foreign land, and string their insights together in unique artistic idioms to present an exciting and relived art journey.

Following the artist-in-residence programme in Kyotango in Japan, Cheung and Tang drew inspirations from their strong impressions of the sea, a lighthouse and a map, recreating highlights of their travelling experience in Kyotango and other foreign countries.

The two artists have created a set of multimedia displays through ingenious use of space in the foyer of Trade and Industry Tower. They encourage viewers to take a break from their bustling lifestyle, and to appreciate, feel and reflect on the meaning of travel from several perspectives. Their works are not only the products of two artists putting their ideas together, but also an invitation to viewers to start a dialogue about the culture of travel, and to explore the deeper meaning of a journey.

Organised by the Art Promotion Office under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Traversing the Horizon" is the fourth phase of the #ArtTravellers exhibition series and will run until February 29 next year. Artists contributing to the exhibition series use different media to encourage viewers to explore the little details one may often miss during a journey, and to reflect on the meaning of travel from a new perspective.
