Fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok today (February 16) in which an 83-year-old woman died.

     At about 1.30pm, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 65-year-old man was travelling along Fuk Tsun Street eastbound. When approaching the junction of Fuk Tsun Street and Fir Street, it reportedly knocked down the 83-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

     The woman was trapped under the MGV and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious leg injuries, the woman was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in semi-conscious state where she was certified dead at 2.52pm.

     The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
