Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

     Hsin Chong Construction (Asia) Limited and Gammon E&M Limited were fined $40,000 and $28,000 respectively at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (December 7) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on October 21, 2017 at a building construction site in Kowloon Bay. While a worker was carrying out air-conditioning work, he fell a distance of 7.55 metres from the false ceiling to the ground. He sustained severe injuries and passed away two days later.
