United Nations Sanctions (South Sudan) Regulation 2018 gazetted

     The Government today (November 9) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (South Sudan) Regulation 2018, which came into operation today.
 
     "The Regulation implements sanctions against South Sudan imposed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2428," a Government spokesperson said.
 
     The sanctions implemented under the Regulation include:
 
  • prohibition against the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to South Sudan;
 
  • prohibition against the provision of assistance or training related to military activities, or to the provision, maintenance or use of any arms or related materiel, to persons in South Sudan;
 
  • prohibition against making available to, or for the benefit of, certain persons or entities any funds or other financial assets or economic resources, or dealing with funds or other financial assets or economic resources belonging to, or owned or controlled by, certain persons or entities; and
 
  • prohibition against the entry into or transit through the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region by certain persons.
