S for S inspects Hong Kong Port Area of West Kowloon Station (with photos)

     The Secretary for Security, Mr John Lee, visited the Hong Kong Port Area of West Kowloon Station (WKS) after the service of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) commenced today (September 23) to gain a better understanding of the work of personnel of local law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on the first day of service.
      
     Mr Lee first arrived at the Station Control Room of WKS to learn more about the operation of the XRL system. Mr Lee, together with the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Frank Chan Fan, and the Non-executive Chairman of MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL), Professor Frederick Ma, was briefed on the operation of the XRL on its first day of service.
      
     Mr Lee then proceeded to the Police Report Centre at the Hong Kong Port Area where he was briefed on the work of maintaining law and order at the station.
      
     Afterwards, he visited the duty room of the Immigration Department and the control room of the Customs and Excise Department respectively to see for himself the procedure of entry and departure clearance as well as customs clearances for passengers.
      
     Mr Lee expressed his appreciation to all personnel of LEAs at WKS for their dedication to their work, and he was confident that they would be committed to exercising professionalism in carrying out their duties so that passengers could experience efficient and convenient railway services of XRL.
