     As Severe Tropical Storm Mangkhut is moving away from Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Observatory replaced the No. 8 Southeast Gale or Storm Signal issued at 7.40pm yesterday (September 16), by the Strong Wind Signal No.3 at 5.20am today (September 17).

     As at 9pm yesterday, the 1823 Government Call Centre has received 262 reports of fallen trees. The Drainage Services Department has received 46 confirmed flooding cases. According to the Civil Engineering and Development Department and Lands Department, one report of landslide has been received. 
 
     As at 5.20am, a total of 1 539 people have sought refuge at the temporary shelters opened by the Home Affairs Department. Forty-six shelters are still in operation.
 
     According to the Hospital Authority, as at 5am, a total of 391 people, including 219 men and 172 women, have sought medical treatment at the Accident and Emergency Departments at public hospitals during the typhoon period.
 
     On air traffic, the Airport Authority Hong Kong reported that a total of 889 flights have been cancelled yesterday.
