SFH concludes visit to Shanghai and Seoul (with photos)

     The Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, together with the delegation led by her, conducted the last day of their visit in Seoul, Korea, today (September 7).
 
     Professor Chan met with the Vice Minister of Health and Welfare of Korea, Mr Kwon Deok-cheol, to exchange views on medical and healthcare issues of the two places. She also briefed Mr Kwon about the planning and construction of the first Chinese medicine hospital in Hong Kong.
 
     Professor Sophia Chan said, "Korea has rich experience in the development of traditional oriental medicine. I believe that it is worthy for Hong Kong to make reference to the collaboration between traditional and Western medicine and the relevant legal framework.
 
      "Hong Kong is pushing forward with the development of the first Chinese medicine hospital. I hope, taking the opportunity of this visit, we can learn valuable experience from Korea on different aspects, including the planning of facilities of traditional oriental medicine hospitals, the application of technology, service development, training and scientific research, in a bid to ensure that the services of our Chinese medicine hospital will meet the needs of Hong Kong people."
 
     During its two-day visit to Seoul, the delegation visited the Association of Korean Medicine, the National Medical Center of Korea, Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong and the National Rehabilitation Center.
 
     Professor Chan also met with Hong Kong people living there to update them on the direction of medical policy in Hong Kong, as well as the planning and construction of the first Chinese medicine hospital.
 
     The delegation will return to Hong Kong tonight.
