Police are investigating a murder and suicide case in Mong Kok last night (August 7) in which a 44-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter died.

     At about 6.31pm last night, Police received a report from a 28-year-old female domestic helper that odd smell was emitting from a unit on 83 Sycamore Street. Police officers sped to the scene and found the 44-year-old woman and her daughter lying unconscious inside the unit. A basin with burnt charcoal was found inside the unit. The woman and the girl were certified dead at scene.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of their deaths.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Mong Kok District is underway.
